Nancy C H Lawrence enjoys depicting the natural environment of her native Texas. Her artwork reflects her love of color and her visual response to the graphic nature of organic subjects; succulents, animals, and landscapes, working in both oil and acrylic mediums as vehicles for expression. Since she was young
she has felt that God created so many amazing images in nature; she strives to paint the beauty seen around her whether large or small.
Born and raised in San Antonio, Tx. She spent lots of free time in the Hill Country which fed her love of Texas nature. After graduating from Baylor University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts and a minor in education she has been creating artworks. Her work has been exhibited in Kansas and Texas, also painting private and public murals in both states. Her work is included in private collections as well. Nancy is a high school Art Educator in LISD and loves nurturing today’s youth to encouraging future artists. She enjoys hiking, water sports and horseback riding which give her the opportunity to photograph scenes for future artworks. She lives in Flower Mound, Texas with her husband Geoff and three children.
“To create one’s world in any of the arts takes courage. (Georgia O’Keeffe)
Art is a personal journey
I have learned courage by stepping out into my art. It has taught me to take chances and to believe in myself. When I paint is when I feel truly alive and fulfilled.
My work is about enjoying the beauty of nature and bringing it to full color. I often express color in my art that is not seen by the naked eye, but in my mind. Nature is beautiful and I want to portray it on canvas and paper the way I interpret it in my mind.
I strive for my work to be visually interesting for the viewer in hopes that they will see a deeper into the image.
